Gauguin loved to use unrealistic colors to express his feelings or to achieve special color effects. The work he created in Tahiti, which reflects the life of ‘primitive’ people of the time, made Gauguin one of the founding fathers of modern art, together with Cézanne, van Gogh and Munch.
